GROUP MAT CLASSES

Classes are performed on the mat and use small props such as a magic circle (Pilates ring) or arm weights when appropriate. Classes can have ony 4-8 people in-studio to maximise personal attention.

We offer three levels of mat class: Basic , Intermediate and Advanced each of which has a series of precisely ordered  and designed floor exercises to strengthen, stretch and align the entire body.

Classes have an online option.

INJURY AND GROUP CLASSES

If you are living with a serious physical issue or injury, we strongly suggest you start with private sessions as group classes are not the best place to address the complex issues surrounding injuries. Once you have reached a certain level in your Pilates it may be possible to join a group class at the discretion of your instructor.

LEVELS

CLASS LEVELS

BASIC

No experience needed. Suitable for beginners, this class uses prepilates and the first half dozen classical exercises to teach the principles of Pilates.
- Please note with the exception of online classes, we require new clients to take private, duet or GEC sessions until they are ready to join an already existing mat class.

BASIC 2

This class is the progression towards the classical intermediate matwork, where work on the front and side is included for the first time.

INTERMEDIATE

Intermediate level mat work is a strong workout comprising of 20 exercises which can go a long way towards keeping you in shape. You need experience of the full Intermediate mat order. The longer class format includes far more technical detail in its teaching.

INTERMEDIATE 2

This is the bridge to the classical advanced work. It introduces new movement patterns (lifting the lower body into the air, push up based work) which are not appropriate for everyone.

ADVANCED

The full advanced classical mat. For your safety and to make sure you will benefit from this class please contact the studio before booking. These classes offer true, full advanced mat for which you will need considerable experience of Classical Pilates. Advanced mat is genuinely advanced and gives you a very tough, challenging workout.

SEATED PILATES CLASS

A much less athletic class focussing on pre-pilates and mobility for those who find it hard to get up and down from the floor. Suitable for older people and those with restricted movement.

NB. All mat class levels also include standing work.
