Romana's Pilates Level V*

Kinetic Pilates Senior Instructor 
Ph.D, MA, BA, AGSM.

James started Pilates due to back problems he was having. He loves the “Pilates High” (which he thinks is better than the Runner’s High) and how Pilates can bring dramatic relief from pain and wants to help others experience both of these.  

​

James did his basic level training as a Romana's Pilates instructor in Santiago, Chile with Francisca Molina Matta (Instructor Trainer Level III) and his intermediate and advanced level with Marjorie Oron (Master Instructor Trainer Level I) and Jane Poerwoatmodjo (Instructor Trainer Level III) in The Hague, HollandHe had his advanced training seminar with Sari Mejía Santo (Grand Master Instructor Level I) and certified in Chicago with Juanita Lopez (Grand Master Instructor Trainer Level I). He started teaching at Kinetic Pilates in January 2011.

He is also a therapist who practices from London Bowen Clinic in Primrose Hill. He studied Zen Shiatsu at the Zen School of Shiatsu and the Rosewell Shiatsu Centre, Shiatsu Shin Tai at the British School of Shiatsu, the Bowen Technique at the College of Bowen Studies and Anatomy in Motion (AiM) with Gary Ward. His own movement background includes triathlon, cycling, weight lifting, yoga, many styles of qigong and internal martial arts (bagua, xingyi and taiji) which he started after suffering from ME in his early 20s.

 

James has an AGSM performer’s diploma in Flute (1996), a BA from Durham University (2000), and the M.Phil. (2001) and Ph.D. (2004) degrees from Cambridge University and taught at university level in Santiago, Chile.
