                                  What is Pilates?

Pilates is a physical training method named after its inventor Joseph Pilates which makes you stronger, more flexible and coordinated so that you are in control of your body rather than at its mercy.

Pilates is Corrective Exercise for Mind-Body Balance

Pilates is a lot more than a gentle breathing and stretching system for people who can’t do anything more strenuous. Pilates offers the potential of a challenging, dynamic full-body workout that is second to none.

It is the mind which changes the body, and so as you progress in the pilates method you will notice a deeper coordination of your mind and your body. Your personality becomes stronger and more flexible, not just your back.

Pilates is a Way of Moving

There are six principles which shape the way that we practice every exercise in the method:

                                  • Concentration
                                  • Control
                                  • Centre
                                  • Precision
                                  • Breath
                                  • Flow

Going through the movements is not enough. How you do the exercises is more important than what exercises you do.

                                  Pilates is Your Body´s Conscience

Every time you train you are working to change the shape of your body and the way that it moves. This awareness carries through into other things you do: once you have learned Pilates, it becomes your body’s conscience for the rest of your life.
