                                           Kinetic Pilates Instructors

                                                                 Comprehensively Trained Traditional Instructors

All instructors at Kinetic Pilates were trained by Romana's Pilates. There are not many teachers with this training in England or the UK and it consists of a minimum of 700 hours of apprenticeship. Teachers are trained on all pieces of apparatus at all levels both practically and theoretically.

Trainee teachers must reach an advanced level in their own training and pass three practical and four written exams before becoming fully certified. All our instructors continue developing their skills with continuing professional education.

Rebecca Convey- Romana's Pilates Instructor Level V, MA, BFA, Studio Owner

Rebecca Convey opened Kinetic Pilates in 2009, in Stroud Green to offer classical pilates training in North London. Rebecca was trained as a Romana's Pilates instructor in London, under Stephanie Guimond (Instructor Trainer Level 4). She was tested by Marjorie Oron (Instructor Trainer Level 2 based in The Hague, ) and was certified in New York by Sari Mejia (Level 1, Master Instructor).

Rebecca graduated with a Masters Degree in Choreography in 2006 from Middlesex University in London and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance from Simon Fraser University in Canada. Rebecca's work as a dancer and choreographer has seen her perform in Canada, London and Europe.

She has been teaching dance for over twenty years and was head of the dance and Btec department at The Susi Earnshaw Theatre School until she left in 2010 to have her first baby. She is artistic director of Kinetic Dance Company, a youth dance company based in, North London.

Rebecca started training in Pilates while studying for her Masters Degree and fell in love with it. It was a natural progression for her to become a Pilates Instructor. She offers clients her experience and expertise and gives each client the attention they need for the best results.

His movement background includes weight lifting, triathlon, yoga, qigong and internal martial arts (taiji, bagua and xingyi) and he is certified in practical Zen shiatsu, continuing with more advanced study at the Zen School of Shiatsu. James started Pilates due to back problems he was having. He loves the “Pilates High” (which he thinks is better than the Runner’s High) and how pilates makes the body feel so comfortable to live in and wants to help others experience both of these.

Melinda ("Lulu") Shepherdson –

She is currently employed by a central London NHS Trust as a Clinical Occupational Therapist in Injury Prevention and people moving and handling. She is a back care specialist and applies this knowledge and expertise to her teaching.

With a love of physical activity including triathlon, yoga and Pilates, Melinda was devastated after suffering a back injury two years ago.
